A Netflix and Game of Thrones addiction? Meet @eroticamistress #AuthorChat #Giveaway

Happy Monday, sweeties! I'm excited to have the fabulous +Vera Roberts with me today as we chat about my favourite subject. Books, of course! LOL

She's brought her latest offering, a contemporary interracial new adult romance that I'm sure you'll all love. There's also a $25 Amazon Giveaway. So be sure to stay with us. First, let's find out a little about Vera.

Q1) Welcome to my blog, Vera. It's great to finally get you on here. Can you tell us a little about yourself
Well, I’m Vera Roberts. I live in Los Angeles with my hubby, Maks; son, Bear (nickname); and cat, Sushi.

Q2) You know I love LA. Sunshine for most of the year. Great place. So have you always wanted to be an author?
Yes. Every job I’ve had, I always wrote during the breaks (or even when I was supposed to be doing work). It’s just a calling for me.

Q3) I think it's the same for most writers. Who are some of your favorite writers? Who do you feel has influenced your writing?
Definitely George R.R. Martin. I love the Game of Thrones books. Sidney Sheldon is also a favorite. And Walter Mosley. They’ve all influenced me in different ways.

Q4) Sidney Sheldon is also in my fave list. But I don't think I could ever sit through reading any of the Game of Thrones books. I'll settle for the TV shows. LOL. Can you tell us what a typical writing day for you is like.

I’m a stay at-home mother so my schedule is dependent on the Kid, as I call him.  If it’s a book that has a deadline coming up, I pretty much write whenever I can. If it’s a book I can take some time on, I write when he naps. It’s tough but doable.

Q5) I feel you. I certainly know what it feels like writing around a toddler. To the exciting stuff. Your new book. Can you tell us a little about it?

Breakaway  is a New Adult romance. It’s about two people, Sydney and Dean, who are snowed in together and sparks fly. Once they realize they want to be together, now it’s a matter of making it work. She’s just a regular working gal while he’s a hockey superstar.

Q6) Fabulous. How did you come up with the idea for this story?
It was an idea I was playing with for a few months and I believe, in the original context, Dean wasn’t a hockey player; he was just a regular Joe Schmoe. One night I was watching a Kings game and I was like, ‘Hmm…what if Dean was a hockey player?’

Q7) It always amazes me the kind of things that inspire us as writers. So what's up next for you?
Breakaway II is coming out very, very soon. Hopefully, it’ll be out when this interview is printed. I also have a superhero YA story coming out that I’m very excited about.

Q8) Woohoo! What is the best piece of advice you would give to a budding writer?
Read, read, read. Read great books, read horrible books. Every time you read something, your brain internalizes it. Read your genre, read outside your genre. Some of my best ideas came from fantasy books.

Q9) Great advice. What is the next book on your To Read Pile that you are dying to jump into?
My husband gave me a copy of a book George R.R. Martin wrote called, “Wild Cards I” so I’m hoping to start that soon.

Q10) Happy reading! Is there anything else you would like to add?
I really love what I do. It’s cool there are people who are interested in my imagination.
